Customize Topography in a 3D Slide [Beta]

Learn how to add topography to a 3D Slide in VRIFY Present and customize its opacity, zone styles, and surrounding area distance.

Overview

Topography displays the terrain across your property in a 3D Slide. The Topography configuration panel controls the overall opacity of the terrain and the image style for three concentric display zones: the Property Boundary Area, the Surrounding Area, and the Regional Landscape Area. Each zone can be toggled on or off and styled independently, so you control how much visual emphasis falls on your property versus the surrounding landscape.

Note: This article applies to VRIFY Present Beta. View legacy instructions at Building 3D Presentations.

Step by Step Instructions

Customize Topography

To access the Topography settings:

  1. In the Object Settings panel, click on the Topography folder

Click Topography (the object below the group header).

The Topography configuration panel will open and show the opacity slider and the three zone settings: Property Boundary Area, Surrounding Area, and Regional Landscape Area.

Adjust Topography opacity

The opacity slider at the top of the Topography panel controls how transparent the entire terrain appears in the 3D Slide.

To adjust topography opacity, drag the opacity slider left to decrease opacity or right to increase it. The percentage value updates as you drag.

Topography display zones

Topography in VRIFY Present is rendered across three concentric zones, the property boundary area, surrounding area, and the regional landscape area. Each zone can be toggled on or off independently, and each has its own image style setting.

1. Property Boundary Area

To configure the Property Boundary Area in the Topography panel:

  1. Use the toggle to turn the zone on or off.

  2. Select an image style from the dropdown (see the table for descriptions)

Style

Description

Satellite Image (Default)

Standard satellite imagery

Saturated Satellite Image

Higher-contrast, more vivid satellite imagery

Highlighted Satellite Image

Satellite imagery with enhanced brightness

Hatch Diagonal

Stylized diagonal stripe terrain pattern

Hatch Cross

Stylized north-oriented cross-hatch terrain pattern

2. Surrounding Area

To configure the Surrounding Area in the Topography panel:

  1. Use the toggle to turn the zone on or off.

  2. Select an image style from the dropdown. The available styles are the same as the Property Boundary Area options above.

  3. Use the Distance (m) slider to set how far the surrounding area extends from the property boundary. A smaller value tightens the zone to the property; a larger value extends it further into the surrounding landscape.

3. Regional Landscape Area

To configure the Regional Landscape Area in the Topography panel:

  1. Use the toggle next to turn the zone on or off.

  2. Select an image style from the dropdown (see the table for descriptions)

Style

Description

Satellite Image (Default)

Standard satellite imagery

Desaturated Satellite Image

Pulls back colour so closer zones remain the visual focus

Contours Dark

Dark background with topographic contour lines

Contours Light

Light background with topographic contour lines

Gradient Ramp Warm

Applies a warm colour gradient to convey landscape variation across the region

Gradient Ramp Cool

Applies a cool colour gradient to convey landscape variation across the region

Additional Notes

  • Use Saturated Satellite Image on the Property Boundary Area to make the project site stand out visually against a default-style surrounding area.

  • Set a smaller Surrounding Area distance (500–1000 m) for tight project-focused slides. Use a larger distance (2000 m+) when regional infrastructure context is important.

  • The Contours Dark or Gradient Ramp Warm styles for the Regional Landscape Area work well when you want to de-emphasise the outer zone and keep viewer focus on the property.
