360 Photography Info Sheet

Learn about Drone 360 and Ground 360 Photography, used to create 360 Slides.

Updated this week

What is 360 Photography?

360 photography consists of multiple still photos that are stitched together into a 360-degree photo. VRIFY Decks use Drone 360 Photography and

Ground 360 Photography, supplemented with still imagery, to create engaging, interactive 360 Slides.

360 Photography Example

Drone 360 Photography:

  • Can easily be taken with most DJI drones with a mostly automated process. Between 25-35 individual still photos are captured for each 360.

  • Clients can self-shoot, provided you have one of the accepted DJI drone models.

  • Note that Drone 360s cannot be taken inside buildings unless the DJI Mini 3 Pro is used.

Ground 360 Photography:

Types of 360 Photography Shoots

When planning a 360 photography shoot for your VRIFY Deck, you have two options:

Self-Shoot (Drone Only)

You can capture drone 360 photography yourself using your own equipment. Please note:

  • Only drone 360s are possible with this option.

  • Ground 360 photography is not supported in self-shoots.

VRIFY Photographer Shoot (Recommended)

A VRIFY photographer can capture all the imagery needed for your Deck, including:

  • Drone 360 photography (higher quality than most self-shot versions)

  • Ground 360 photography

  • Professional still images for added visual detail

VRIFY photographers are located around the world and have extensive experience working on mine sites, ensuring a professional and consistent result.

You may also choose to work with a local photographer you’ve worked with before. However, most local photographers do not have the specialized equipment to capture ground 360s, and the quality and format may not meet VRIFY standards.

We strongly recommend choosing a VRIFY photographer for best results.

How Much Does a VRIFY Photographer Cost?

The cost depends on the number of shoot days, which is based on the shot list created with the VRIFY Production Team. Site layout, travel time between locations, and induction requirements also affect how many days are needed.

Generally, VRIFY Photographer shoots are 2-4 days.

Our photographer’s rates vary, but are around $1200-1500 CAD per shoot day, plus $500-750 CAD per travel day. If a day includes both travel and shooting it will be charged as a shoot day. All photographer expenses will also need to be covered (travel, accommodation, meals. etc.).

VRIFY’s Process for 360 Photography

Once the type of shoot has been determined, the process is as follows:

  1. Pre-Production Call

    1. Note: For 360 photography you will work with the Production Team (separate from the team you will be working with for your 3D model).

    2. During this call, we will create a shot list as well as go over the procedure and requirements for capturing drone 360 photography (for self-shoot), or plan travel arrangements and discuss logistics (for VRIFY photographer shoot).

    3. Meeting attendees should include anyone responsible for deciding what to capture on site, as well as the drone pilot (for self-shoots) or site personnel available to accompany the photographer (for VRIFY photographer shoot).

  2. [Self-shoot only] Drone 360 Test Shot

    1. If self-shooting, a drone 360 test shot is required before the main shoot to confirm the capture process is understood. This helps avoid re-shoots and saves time for everyone involved.

  3. [VRIFY Photographer shoot only] Finalize Travel & Logistics for the Photographer

    1. VRIFY will handle the booking for all travel and accommodations with the exception of site-specific charter flights and sites with camps.

    2. VRIFY will manage all coordination with the photographer, including submitting required documents and completing any necessary paperwork.

  4. 360 Shoot

  5. Post-Production

    1. VRIFY stitches and edits all 360 photos to ensure the highest quality content.

    2. After the shoot has been completed, it generally takes 5-14 days for deck delivery depending on the size of the shoot.

  6. 360 Deck Delivery & Review

Image Modifications

Modifications to 360 photos are limited. While small objects can be removed, it’s best to ensure all photo locations are clean and photo-ready before the shoot for the best results.
