Overview
VRIFY Prepare is a data preparation workspace where you map, validate, and publish your geoscience data before it becomes available in VRIFY Present 3D and 360 Slides. Prepare runs an extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipeline in the background to clean and reshape your files into a format optimized for 3D rendering and data science.
Data enters Prepare through the Files uploader. Once uploaded, drag a file into the workspace. Prepare adds the steps for that file type. Depending on the file, you may need to confirm a tag or sample type, set parameters, or map fields. Then, open Validate and select Validate. Validation does not start on its own, and there is no separate Data Quality step. For 3D files, validation also converts the file. When validation is complete, review the results, then open Publish and select Publish file.
Once a file is accepted, it appears in 3D and 360 Slides under the same folder structure you used in Files.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your data
Before uploading, confirm your files meet the requirements for your data type.
File formats: See Upload Your Data.
Required fields: Tabular data must include required fields before upload:
Naming conventions: File names appear in VRIFY Present, so use descriptive, consistent file names. See Naming Convention Recommendations.
Step 2: Upload data through the Files uploader
Open the Files uploader and upload your files into the correct folder for your data type. Each data type has a corresponding folder — uploading to the wrong folder means the file will not appear under the correct data type in Prepare.
Whenever possible, avoid uploading to the Uncategorized folders. Some files left there cannot be processed by Prepare until moved to the correct folder.
Step 3: Add data to the Prepare workspace
Select your data type from the Data Room sidebar on the left, and drag it into the workspace. See Navigating the VRIFY Prepare Interface.
If you uploaded data to the corresponding folder or subfolder in Files, it will appear here. If you need to upload data, select No files? Upload here in the lower left to be redirected to the Files uploader.
Step 4: Complete the steps for your data type
Prepare adds a different set of steps for each file. Complete the setup steps, then run validation yourself. The workflow in the workspace is the source of truth for the file you selected.
Data Type | Workflow |
Drilling | Field Mapper → Validate → Publish. Map the columns, then select Save. See Validate and Publish Drilling Data. |
Surface Geochemistry | Confirm Sample Type → Field Mapper → Validate → Publish. See Validate and Publish Surface Geochemistry Data. |
Block Models (Resources and Reserves) | Parameters → Field Mapper → Validate → Publish. SRID is prefilled from the asset. See Validate and Publish Block Models. |
3D Infrastructure | Confirm Tag → Validate → Publish. The tag is prefilled from the subfolder. Validation converts the file. |
3D Objects, including Geology objects and Grade Shells | Validate → Publish. There is no tag step. Validation converts the file. |
Property Boundaries, Geophysics, Photos, Graphics, Spectral Data, and other vector or image files | Validate → Publish. No mapping is required. |
PDFs | Publish only. No validation step. Open Publish and select Publish file. |
Step 5: Review and resolve validation issues
Open the Validate step and select Validate. For a single file, validation starts immediately. Review the results in that step before publishing.
Blocking issues must be resolved before you can publish. Correct the issue in your source file*, re-upload through the Files uploader, then return to Prepare and repeat from Step 3.
Other issues will not block publishing but may affect data quality. Review and resolve where possible before continuing. See Understanding Error Messages in VRIFY Prepare.
* Drilling and Surface Geochemistry can be edited directly in the Prepare workspace. Save the edits, then re-run validation. See Edit Tabular Data in VRIFY Prepare.
Step 6: Publish your data
Once validation is complete and no blocking issues remain, open the Publish step and select Publish file.
If you are updating previously published Drilling, Surface Geochemistry, or Block Model data, Prepare asks whether to update or replace the existing data. Updating is recommended. Use replace with caution, because it overwrites the existing data.
Most files are available in VRIFY Present within minutes. Block Models and complex 3D files can take an hour or more. 3D files larger than 2GB are routed to the VRIFY team for manual processing and will show a status of Action(s) Required.

Step 7: Use data in a 3D Presentation
Once your data is available, open a presentation in VRIFY Present and add a 3D Slide or 360 Slide. Your published data will appear in the same folder structure you used in the Files uploader. See full article collection.
