Overview
Geophysics data appears as raster layers draped over the terrain surface, where colours represent measured values across the dataset.
In VRIFY Present, you can add geophysics data to a 3D Slide and adjust colour mapping, gradients, and vertical positioning to highlight patterns and compare multiple datasets.
Note: This article applies to VRIFY Present Beta, which contains features not available in VRIFY Present Legacy. View legacy instructions at Building 3D Presentations.
Step by Step Instructions
Adding geophysics to a 3D Slide:
Note: Only files with Accepted status appear in the Objects & Files panel when building a 3D Slide. If an object or file is missing, check its status on the Files page. Learn more in Understanding File Statuses. |
Add Geophysics Data to a 3D Slide
In the Add Objects & Files panel, open the Geophysics folder.
Select a dataset type (for example, magnetic, gravity, or radiometric). This can vary based on the data available in your asset:
Click the + icon beside the dataset you want to add:
The raster will appear as a raster layer draped over the topography:
Customize the Geophysics Object
In the Object Settings panel, click the Geophysics object name to open the Properties panel:
To centre the view on a geophysics object, right-click it in the Object Settings panel and select Focus:
Show or Hide the Legend
Click the Legend icon in the Properties panel.
The legend appears in the lower right corner of the slide and displays value ranges and colours:
Adjust Raster Height
Use the Distance from Topography slider to set the height of the raster above the terrain.
Increasing the height allows multiple raster layers to be stacked and compared simultaneously:
Select a Colour Mapping Method
In the Properties panel, open the Colour Mapping dropdown.
Select a method:
Linear — evenly distributes colours across the data range.
Equal Area — balances colour distribution across raster cells.
Cumulative — highlights gradual changes in value distribution.
Logarithmic — emphasizes smaller variations in large value ranges.
Select a Colour Gradient
The selected gradient updates both the raster and the legend.
Adjust the Value Range
Set the minimum and maximum values.
Optionally, use percentile ranges to refine the display:
1st / 99th percentile — removes extreme outliers.
5th / 95th percentile — highlights central trends.
10th / 90th percentile — emphasizes common values.
Additional Notes
Object customization saves automatically. To save your initial slide view, click Save Changes in the upper right when you are finished editing.
