Validate and Publish Drilling Data

Learn how to validate and publish Drilling data in VRIFY Prepare so it is available for use in VRIFY Present.

Overview

Before Drilling data can be added to a 3D Slide in VRIFY Present, it must first pass validation and data quality checks in VRIFY Prepare.

Drilling data is organized into three subfolders. Drillholes require an additional field mapping step. Using the Field Mapper, you match the columns in your CSV files to the required fields in VRIFY Prepare.

Drill Photos and Drilling Sections are published directly without validation.

Note: Processing your Drillhole files together in a single batch is recommended over processing them individually. When files are batched, VRIFY Prepare checks them against each other — for example, flagging hole IDs that appear in one file but not another, or pulling Azimuth and Dip values from your Survey file if they are missing from Collar.

If processing files individually, the Collar file must be mapped, validated, and published before all others.

Prepare and Upload Data

Tabular data includes required and recommended fields — see Drillholes: Required & Recommended Fields before uploading.

Upload and sort your files into the correct subfolders in Files before starting this workflow. See Upload Files to VRIFY.

Step by Step Instructions

Before you begin, open your data files and review the column headers and values. You can do this in the VRIFY Prepare interface or in your preferred software on your desktop. Knowing what your data contains makes the mapping steps faster and reduces errors.

Additionally, if you have multiple files of the same type (e.g., multiple collar tables or survey tables), clearly identify which files correspond to each other before you begin. Each batch can only include one file per table type.

Drillholes

  1. Select Drilling from the left sidebar.

  2. Drag your files into the correct categories (Collar, Survey, Assays, Lithology, Highlights) in the Drilling sidebar:

  3. Drag one file from each category slot (Collar, Survey, Assays, Lithology, Highlights) into the workspace. Each batch accepts one file per category, although you do not need to fill every category.

    • If your Collar CSV does not include Azimuth and Dip, but your Survey table does, they will be populated using corresponding values from the Survey CSV.

    • If you choose to process files individually, the Collar file must be mapped, validated, and published before all others.

    • Note: VRIFY Prepare automatically adds Field Mapper and Data Quality steps to the workspace.

  4. Click the Field Mapper step to open the Step Details sidebar on the right.

    • Note: A preview of your CSV data will appear in the workspace.

  5. Map the required fields to the corresponding columns in your CSV:

    • Toggle Depth Unit between metres and feet as needed.

    • Project Name

    • Hole Name (ID)

    • Final Depth (m or ft)

    • X / Easting / Longitude

    • Y / Northing / Latitude

    • Z / Elevation (m or ft)

    • Azimuth

    • Dip

  6. Down Dip is Negative is checked by default. Uncheck if your data uses a different convention.

  7. Click Additional Columns and map as many fields as your data allows. Columns skipped now will require remapping later when new features are added.

  8. To save your field mapping as a template for other data files, click Presets, enter a name, and save.

  9. Click Map.

Review Results and Publish

  1. Once all steps are complete, click Data Quality to review the results in the right sidebar. Review any error messages. See Understanding Error Messages in VRIFY Prepare for guidance.

    • Note: If issues are found, click the error message to open additional information:

      This will also filter the affected rows in the workspace. Click into a cell to edit directly in the workspace, click Save, then re-run the mapping step. See Edit Tabular Data in VRIFY Prepare.

  2. If no issues are found, or only non-blocking issues are present, click Publish File.

    • Note: If you are updating existing Drilling data, a prompt will appear asking whether you want to update or replace the existing data. Updating is recommended. Use replace with caution as it will overwrite your existing data.

Confirm Data is Available in VRIFY Present

  1. After publishing, most files are available immediately with a status of Accepted. Large files can take an hour or more. See Understanding File Statuses.

  2. Once the file status shows Accepted, open a 3D Slide in edit mode in VRIFY Present and open the Add Objects & Assets panel. The data will appear under the corresponding folder.

You can include a Drill Photo with your Highlights data on a 3D Slide, along with a title and description. If you want to include an image, publish your Drill Photos before mapping and publishing Highlights data. See Add a Photo to a Drilling Highlight.

  1. Select Drilling from the left sidebar.

  2. Drag the file into the workspace.

    • Note: VRIFY Prepare automatically adds a Publish step to the workspace.

  3. Click the Publish step to open the right sidebar.

  4. Click Publish File.

Confirm Data is Available in VRIFY Present

  1. After submitting, most files are available immediately with a status of Accepted. Large files can take an hour or more. See Understanding File Statuses.
