Set Up and Use Multi-Factor Authentication

Learn how multi-factor authentication (MFA) works in VRIFY, including how to complete the email verification flow and how admins can enable or disable MFA for their organisation.

Overview

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second verification step when signing in to VRIFY with a username and password. After your credentials are validated, VRIFY sends a one-time code to your email address. You enter that code to complete your login.

MFA is enforced on both the VRIFY web app and iOS.

If you sign in with Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, or Apple (SSO), MFA does not apply to your account. Your identity is verified by your SSO (Single Sign-On) provider.

Note: This feature is being rolled out gradually and may not be available on your account yet. Contact your dedicated VRIFY representative for more information.

Step by Step Instructions

First, MFA must be enabled by a Company Admin. Once enabled, all users must enter a one-time code when logging in.

Enable or Disable MFA For Your Organization (Company Admins Only)

  1. Go to Settings in the left-side panel.

  2. Scroll down to Security.

  3. Toggle Require email verification codes on:

    Security section in Settings

The setting applies to all users in the organization immediately.

Complete the MFA Verification Flow

  1. Enter your username and password on the login screen. You will be prompted to verify your identity with a one-time verification code:

    Verify your identity
  2. Check your email for an email containing the code. The code lasts for 5 minutes:

    Verification code email
    • Tip: Look for the subject line "Your VRIFY sign-in verification code". If you don’t see the email, check your spam/junk folder.

  3. Enter the code in the verification field.

  4. Click Verify code to finish logging in.

Invalid or Expired Verification Code

If your code is invalid or expired, you will see this message:

Code invalid or expired error message

To generate a new verification code, click Back and enter your password again. A new code will be sent to the email address on file.
