Surface Geochemistry: Required & Recommended Fields

Learn which fields VRIFY accepts for surface geochemistry CSV uploads, including required and recommended fields for lake sediment, stream sediment, soil, till, water, and rock sample data.

Overview

This guide lists every field VRIFY accepts for the Surface Geochemistry CSV, covering lake sediments, stream sediments, soil, till, water samples, and rock.

Fields are split into two tiers:

  • Required: Core attributes VRIFY needs to validate, transform, and render your surface samples in 3D.

  • Recommended: Additional attributes that unlock spatial filtering, richer presentation tools, and compatibility with new features as they roll out.

Following these guidelines ensures smooth processing in VRIFY Explore and accurate 3D modelling in 3D Slides.

Note: Upload your surface geochemistry data as one master CSV covering all sample types (lake sediment, soil, rock, etc.), distinguished by the Sample Type column. Include your complete historical dataset rather than separate files per sample type or campaign.

Required and Recommended Fields

All 6 surface sample types — lake sediments, stream sediments, soil, till, water samples, and rock — use the same CSV structure.

Analytical results (assay values for the elements analyzed — Au_ppm, Cu_pct, etc.) are added as additional columns alongside the required fields. Include one column per element/measurement.

Notes

  • For each Sample Type (e.g. soil, rock, stream), ensure you place each file in the correct folder in the File Uploader.

  • Sample ID is a required form of data, but if not provided, it will default to: X_Y_SampleType.

  • The default Sample Type is "UNKN".
