Technical Requirements for All iPads

Basic Troubleshooting Steps:

iPads Aren’t Connecting to Each Other

1. Ensure your Wi-Fi is turned on but not connected to any networks (all iPads)

iPads can connect directly to each other without being connected to the internet. However, Wi-Fi must still be turned on for this connection to work.

For the most reliable performance, we recommend not connecting to a Wi-Fi network during these sessions. This prevents interference and ensures the best possible connection between the iPads.

Your Wi-Fi settings on all iPads should look this like:

wifi enabled but connected to a network - this is an incorrect setting

It should not look this like:

2. Ensure that you have allowed local network access to the VRIFY App (all iPads)

If you didn't allow Local Network access when setting up the VRIFY app, you will need to do so now. This ensures that nearby iPads can connect without an internet connection.

To turn on Local Network access:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap Privacy & Security.

  3. Scroll down and tap Local Network.

  4. You should see the VRIFY app logo.

  5. Make sure the Toggle is on (it will be green).

3. Forget a Network to ensure that you do not connect to the internet.

Important: Before you disconnect the internet, make sure you have first downloaded the Deck(s) you wish to present.

Follow these steps to Forget a Network that you last connected to.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.

  2. Tap the i icon next to the network you're connected to.

  3. Tap Forget This Network.

  4. Tap Forget to confirm.

  5. Remember to keep Wi-Fi enabled but do not connect to a network.

4. If you’re using your iPhone as a hotspot, your iPad may be set to automatically join, which will reconnect you to the internet.

Important: Before you disconnect the internet, make sure you have first downloaded the Deck(s) you wish to present.

To turn this off:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.

  2. Scroll down and tap Auto-Join Hotspot.

  3. Change it from Automatic to either:

    • Ask to Join (iPad will prompt you before connecting), or

    • Never (it won’t try to connect to your iPhone’s hotspot at all)

Decks Are Not Visible Under “All Decks”

While you don’t need an internet connection to run in-person meetings, you must prepare in advance while connected to the internet:

  • While connected to a stable internet connection, log in and download the Deck(s) you plan to present from the host iPad.

    • For best performance, download the Deck(s) to the participants' iPads as well.

Prompted to Re-Authenticate Your VRIFY login to Exit the Meeting

  • For security reasons, if you do not have a passcode set up on your iPad, you will need to re-authenticate your VRIFY login to exit the meeting.
