Overview
Follow the steps in this article to get your iPad set up for use with VRIFY. You’ll also find tips on recommended iPad settings and accessories to help ensure a smooth experience and set you up for success when presenting with VRIFY:
Implement recommended settings:
Step-By-Step Instructions
Turn on your iPad
Press and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears.
Create a new Apple ID
First, create a new Apple ID. An Apple ID is used to download apps off the Apple App Store, which is required to download the VRIFY app.
We recommend you use a real shared company email address to create your Apple ID (such as info@companyname.com).
Download the VRIFY App
Sign in with your new Apple ID
After creating an Apple ID, log into your iPad using those credentials.
Open the App Store
Locate and tap the App Store icon on your iPad’s home screen.
Search for VRIFY
Download the VRIFY App
Tap Get to begin downloading the app.
Open the VRIFY App
Once the download is complete, tap Open.
Log in to VRIFY
Enter your VRIFY account details (the same ones you use in a web browser).
Recommended iPad Settings
Lock all iPad screens in the landscape orientation.
Swipe down from the upper right corner of any screen on an iOS device to access Control Center to lock the screen orientation.
For more detailed instructions on locking screens to landscape, check out this Apple how-to article.
💡Tip: When presenting from a podium, turn off screen lock on your iPad. Depending on where the HDMI dongle connects, you may need to flip your device. Keeping screen rotation unlocked ensures your iPad display adjusts automatically, making it easier to present.
Lower the brightness on the host iPad to conserve battery.
Swipe down from the upper right corner of any screen on an iOS device to access the Control Center to adjust the brightness.
For more detailed instructions on lowering the iPad brightness, check out this Apple how-to article.
Set the Auto-Lock setting to 'Never' to prevent devices from going to sleep during a presentation.
This is particularly important for when presenting at conference booths.
To do this, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Make sure Auto-Lock is set to Never.
Set the password for all your iPads to be the same.
Having a generic company password for your iPads will prevent confusion and difficulty accessing your devices.
To set or update your iPad password on each device, go to Settings, then depending on your iPad model, tap either Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode.
For more detailed instructions to set or update your iPad passcode, check out this Apple how-to article.
Recommended iPad Accessories
Using an Apple pencil will help ensure cleaner and more accurate annotations on your VRIFY content during meetings and presentations. You'll just need one for the meeting host/presenter. Ensure the Apple pencil you buy is compatible with your device (newer iPad models will need a 2nd generation pencil).
Using an iPad Case will prolong the life of your device. Cases protect against drops, scratches, and debris, and are recommended since iPads are brought on-site and will get a high amount of use over time.
A USB-C to HDMI Adapter or a USB-C to Multiport Adapter is recommended for presenting. It is common for presentation hardware to support HDMI inputs, so having a variation of adapter will ensure you are able to hook up your iPad to presentation equipment.
The Monoprice adapter USB-C to HDMI adapter is recommended. Note that the comparable Apple adapter may result in insufficient power to send the HDMI signal over some AV setups.
