Mapping Presets in VRIFY Prepare

Learn how to save a field mapping as a preset in VRIFY Prepare and reuse it on other Drilling, Surface Geochemistry, and Block Model files.

Overview

A mapping preset saves the way you matched your CSV columns to VRIFY fields in the Field Mapper, so you can reuse it on other files instead of mapping the same columns again. Presets are available for Drilling, Surface Geochemistry, and Block Model files.

You can apply a preset to one file from its Field Mapper, or to several files at once from the workspace.

What a Preset Saves

  • A preset saves your field mapping: which column in your CSV is mapped to each VRIFY field, including required and additional fields.

  • Two settings are not saved: Map Assays for Surface Geochemistry and Map Variables for Block Models.

  • A preset only works for the type of file it was saved from. For example, a Surface Geochemistry preset is not offered for a Block Model, and a Drilling preset saved from a Collar file is not offered for a Survey file.

Step by Step Instructions

Save a Preset

  1. Drag your file into the workspace and click the Field Mapper step to open the Step Details panel.

  2. Map all of the required fields.

    • Note: You cannot save a preset until all required inputs are complete.

  3. Click Presets.

  4. Under Save as preset, enter a name in the Preset name field and click Save.

VRIFY Prepare confirms that the preset was saved, and it appears under Saved presets.

Apply a Preset to One File

  1. Click the Field Mapper step for the file.

  2. Click Presets.

  3. Under Saved presets, click Apply next to the preset you want to use.

    • Note: To check what a preset contains before you apply it, click the arrow next to its name. The preview shows each source column and the field it maps to.

  4. Review the mapped fields, then continue as you normally would.

Note: Applying a preset replaces the file's whole mapping, including any Map Assays or Map Variables settings you had already set. Apply a preset first, then set up your assays or variables.

Apply a Preset to Several Files

  1. Add the files you want to map to the workspace.

  2. Click Apply preset at the top of the workspace.

  3. In the Apply mapping preset window, select a preset.

  4. The files in the workspace that match the preset are selected for you under Apply to. Clear any file you do not want to change.

    • Note: If no files are listed, add a file of the matching type to the workspace first.

  5. Click Apply to followed by the number of selected files.

VRIFY Prepare confirms when the preset has been applied. If it could not match every column in some files, it tells you the preset was partially applied.

Note: Applying a preset replaces each selected file's whole mapping, including any Map Assays or Map Variables settings you had already set. Apply a preset first, then set up your assays or variables.

If Some Columns Do Not Match

If a column saved in the preset is not in your file, VRIFY Prepare maps the fields it can and leaves the rest unmapped. You will see this warning in the Field Mapper:

Some columns from this preset weren't found in the file — those fields were left unmapped.

Open the Field Mapper for that file and map the remaining fields yourself before continuing.

Delete a Preset

  1. Click the Field Mapper step for any file of the same type.

  2. Click Presets.

  3. Click the trash icon next to the preset you want to remove.

The preset is deleted straight away, and VRIFY Prepare confirms that it was deleted.
