Follow the steps below to check for and install updates to the iOS of your iPad.


Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow the instructions below to update your iPad to the latest operating system.

  1. Ensure your iPad is plugged into a power source and connected to a reliable Wi-Fi connection.

  2. Unlock your iPad.

  3. Open System Settings. The App Icon looks like this:

  4. Tap General.

  5. Tap Software Update.

    1. If your device is up to date, the screen will show the current iOS you are running, and the screen will say "iOS is up to date". You are done and no further action is needed.

    2. If your device needs to be updated, you will see a software update option available. Continue to the next steps.

  6. Tap Install Now.

    1. If you see Download and Install, tap that, enter your password when prompted, and then tap Install Now.

  7. Follow any remaining prompts.

    1. Note: your device may reboot, so be sure to save any work you are doing prior to installing the update.
