Overview
Disconnecting from a Wi-Fi network while keeping Wi-Fi turned on lets your iPad connect directly to nearby iPads in an in-person VRIFY meeting. An active network can interfere with that connection, especially when conference Wi-Fi is slow.
Download your presentation and load every slide before you disconnect, because you cannot download or load content once you are offline.
Step by Step Directions
Turn off Auto-Join to stop your iPad from connecting to a Wi-Fi network while keeping the saved network and its password.
If you prefer to remove the network, you can forget it instead. You will need its password to reconnect.
Disconnect by Turning off Auto-Join
This option keeps the saved network and its password on your iPad.
Open Settings.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Tap the info icon next to the network you are connected to.
Turn off Auto-Join (toggle should be grey).
Tap the back arrow to return to the Wi-Fi screen. Turn the Wi-Fi toggle off (grey) to disconnect from the network, then turn it on again (green).
Your iPad stays on Wi-Fi but does not reconnect to the network. Check that no network shows a checkmark.
To reconnect after your meeting, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and tap the network name.
Note: If your iPad connects to a different network, repeat these steps for that network. Your iPad can join any saved network that has Auto-Join turned on.
Disconnect by Forgetting the Network
This option removes the network and its password from your iPad. You need the password to reconnect.
Open Settings.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Tap the info icon next to the network you are connected to.
Tap Forget This Network.
Tap Forget to confirm.
Check that the Wi-Fi toggle is still on and that no network shows a checkmark:
To reconnect after your meeting, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the network name, and enter the password if asked.
