Overview
In this article, you'll find a reference list of the foundation models available in DORA's Select Deposit Type step, including the deposit type and target commodities each model covers.
A foundation model is a specialized deep learning model pre-trained on globally sourced, anonymized datasets spanning multiple geological environments and deposit types. Choosing the right model for your mineral system is one of the key decisions in a DORA experiment.

Note: Foundation Models are currently on Version 3, available from the dropdown in Step 3: Select Deposit Type. To compare results against a previous version, click More Options and select an older model:

Available Foundation Models
Custom Model
Trains a model from scratch using only your data, within the selected Area of Interest (AOI).
Recommended Usage: Use when your project does not fit standard deposit models. Well-suited to unique geology or deposit types not covered by the existing models.
Deposit Type: None (no predefined model)
Target Commodities: Based on the data provided in the AOI
Arch Intrusion Related Au-Cu
Targeted for Archean intrusion-related gold and copper deposits.
Deposit Type: Archean intrusion-related deposits
Target Commodities: Au, Cu
Carlin Au
Focuses on Carlin-style gold deposits using predictive data.
Deposit Type: Carlin-style deposits
Target Commodities: Au
Deposit Agnostic
Trained across multiple deposit types.
Recommended Usage: Use when you are unsure of the mineral system classification, want to avoid bias toward a specific deposit type, or have limited Learning Data.

Epithermal Au
Focuses on identifying epithermal-style gold deposits.

Epithermal Polymetallic

Orogenic Au
Built to target orogenic gold deposits using geological data.
