Upload a New Area of Interest (AOI) to DORA

Learn the steps to upload your own AOI into a DORA Prediction Map.

Updated this week

Overview

You can upload new AOI files directly into the Prediction Map workflow. Follow the steps below to learn how.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prepare AOI Files

  1. Create a Polygon Shapefile.

    • Use QGIS or another GIS program to create the shapefile.

  2. Prepare Files for Upload:

    • Ensure you have all six required file types (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj, .cpg, and .qmd).

      • Note: If you create a new shapefile in QGIS, it will only generate five files. To include the .qmd file, export the shapefile after creation. This ensures all six files are generated.

Upload into DORA

  1. Open the Prediction Map you want to upload a new AOI to.

  2. You can be on any step of a Prediction Map, but this step applies specifically to the Select Area of Interest step.

  3. Drag and drop all six required files into the Prediction Map UI.

    1. If you are missing a file, you will encounter an error.

  4. Your new AOI will be available in the AOI drop-down menu.

  5. Proceed through the Prediction Map steps.
